The next UNISON South West Regional Council meeting is being held as follows:-

Please note, the registration deadline for observers to regional council is noon on Tuesday 17 September 2019. After this date, additional observers can register at the registration desk prior to the start of the meeting, however, we cannot provide any specific catering which isn't requested before the deadline. Everyone attending should be informed they need to sign in before the meeting starts.

FAQs

Why does anyone need to register to attend this meeting?

ALL regional council delegates, ex-officios, observers and visitors are expected to register their attendance and additional requirements, such as reasonable adjustments, childcare and specific dietary requests.

From a practical perspective, registration means we can properly set up the conference and meeting rooms and ensure that refreshments and catering is provided for the correct number of attendees. It also means that we can be greener by providing an appropriate amount of documentation on the day.

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?

If travelling by car, there is ample parking on site. The nearest train station is at Barnstaple. Please click HERE for more travel information.

Is lunch provided?

Yes, lunch will be provided. It will be available around 1pm. It will take into account dietary requirements where possible, and subject to notification in advance of the meeting. However, if details are not submitted by the registration deadline, we cannot guarantee that any specific food intolerances or allergies can be catered for, and if lots of observers turn up unexpectedly, catering may be sparse!

What do we do if someone needs childcare, needs to bring a facilitator or has access requirements?

Should anyone have any childcare requests, need to bring a facilitator or have access requirements, such as large print, documentation required on a specific coloured paper, please ensure those details are provided when registering your attendance.

When is the agenda issued?

Further details about Regional Council, including the agenda, will be sent to all registered delegates and observers approximately ten days ahead of the meeting.

How many observers can our branch register?

The number of observers the branch wishes to register is up to each branch. Lunch is provided but all other associated attendance costs are met by the observer's branch. Please ensure that branch observers are informed of this, so they know they need to submit expense claims directly to the branch. Lunch is being provided, therefore, no subsistence should be included in the claim.

Can the observer stay overnight?

This depends on how far the branch observer has to travel; but ultimately it's up to the branch as associated attendance costs are met by the observer's branch. Branches with registered observers who are staying overnight need to make reservations directly with Croyde Bay (012718 90890) and meet those costs from the Branch. Please state UNISON when booking accommodation. Any extras will need to be paid for at the time of booking by the branch or individual, as appropriate. Any accommodation will be cancelled unless paid for in full 7 days prior to arrival. Cancellations made within this period will not be refunded, so please ensure that accommodation is definitely required prior to booking.
